This weekend will be my first ever cycling event. As many of you may know by now I enjoy riding my bike whenever I can. The exercise and seeing places around town is a great combination. I also enjoy taking Diana and Jaden along with me when it works out. Cycling is just great over all. Now it is time to “step it up” is one way to think of it.
April 1 I will be doing an entry level race in the California Classic Weekend. There are 35, 60, and 100 mile segments. I will be doing the 35 mile segment to see how I fair. I have done 35 miles in the past and they were not a problem then, so I am hoping I do well on this one. One cool part of the ride is having the freeway shutdown for us to use during the race. The other is free tracking when using my phone and an app. It will be a great way for family and friends to follow along. In fact they can “cheer” for me and I will get notifications (I suspect anyway).
I am looking forward to the race and will just go at my own pace. I am not pushing for 1st or anything, but really just want to enjoy myself on the ride. The very next day Diana will be doing a 5k walk, so Jaden and I will encourage her along the way. I think she will have a great time too.
Oh and this is not an April fools joke either. We are really doing this. If you want to participate or come up to watch, let me know. I can direct you to where you need to go.
